The Sights and Smells of Baseball

The sights and smells of baseball

A freshly cut field in the spring

Baseball clubs, players and fans with all their dreams

From spring to fall we hear the announcers call.

Baseball can be such a romantic thing

Winning streaks, optimism the smell of hotdogs and popcorn in the air

Beer and pop sales are happening and the fan is without a care

Baseball is a business teams lose players get traded or released and that stings.

So why does the fan come back year after year to the ballpark

Hope springs eternal for our team that they will do better

Like a well written song or a hand written letter

We want to for three hours see light and not dark.

So what about the scandals in the game

Baseball is a reflection of life

Their are things that are good and pure and there is strife

We take joy with the game within the game and if we truly love it we are never the same.

This great game is a microcosm of who I have become

You win and lose in this life we are given

We are see, smell and hear so enjoy and keep on livin’

So I pray you live all 9 innings to the fullest when all is said and done.
